Off to Nevada to find former California businesses

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Tomorrow, April 24, I will attend a California Legislative hearing being convened in Reno, Nevada by the Assembly Republican Working Group on Job Creation and Economic Recovery.

The purpose of the hearing is to interview actual businesses who left the state of California and chosen to do business in the State of California.

These businesses used to provide jobs in California, but because of legislative actions taken in recent years, they have fled for the friendlier confines of Nevada and other surrounding states. The California Legislature has been one of the biggest job creators for the State of Nevada since that State legalized gambling.

We’ll be meeting tomorrow at the Nevada Motor Transport Association, located at 8745 Technology Way, Suite E, in Reno, NV. Hearing is scheduled to convene at 10:00am and run to 2:00pm.

New Legislation introduced to delay Gasoline Nozzle requirements

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

Assembly Republicans and I today introduced new legislation to delay vapor recovery gasoline nozzle requirement on gas stations. Unfortunately, these upgrades can cost stations up to $50,000 or more and in this economy, can be devastating to small business gas station owners, causing them to shut down or face severe fines.

A short video explanation of today’s press conference:
